The Top International Art Fairs

Every year more than 300 art fairs are taking places around the world and the interest in art is still growing. But where the most prestigious art fairs can be found? Whether in Basel, New York, Dubai, or Toronto, we collected the must-see art fairs.

Art Basel

The Art Basel also called as the grandmother of art fairs has started in Switzerland in the 1970s. It was created by local art gallerists and now it is one of the biggest contemporary art fairs in the world. In the early 2000s, the fair has been opened in Miami Beach as well. Now there is another a fair in Hongkong too. In September of 2020 it was counted that 250 owners of the world’s leading art galleries are presenting more than 4000 art pieces at the Basel. Many exhibitions, events, and workshops supplement are offering for the visitors.

In December of 2020, galleries from America, Europe, Asia, and Africa will show modern and contemporary art in the form of sculptures, painting, installations, photographs, and many other art forms at the American show that is going to be held in Miami Beach. Art Basel knows that galleries are playing a significant role in the development and promotion of visual arts, so visitors can be sure that they will see the highest standards of art.

Frieze Art Fair in London

People who are interested in art will find over 1,000 of today’s leading artists from more than 160 top galleries in Regent Park in London. In October, visitors can find panel discussions, performances, workshops, music programs, and the Frieze Artist Award there. Last year, galleries from 35 countries attracted collectors and art enthusiasts from all over the world at Frieze London.

TEFAF Maastricht

The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) was established in 1988 and runs three international fairs – TEFAF Maastricht, TEFAF New York Spring, and TEFAF New York Fall.  TEFAF gives the platform for art dealers to present museum-quality artworks. TEFAF Maastricht unites 260 of the world’s most prestigious art and antique dealers from 16 countries. In total, the TEFAF has showed 30,000 artworks with an overall value of 1,4 Billion Dollars in the Netherlands. The fair in Maastricht counted 70,000 visitors during the last year.

ARCO Madrid

At the ARCO in Madrid, visitors can find a lot of contemporary art and products like ceramic, jewellery, digital art, metalwork, sculptures, glass, wood, graphics, paintings, and more. ARCO Madrid is one of the main contemporary art fairs of the international circuit. Until today, more than 93,000 visitors have seen the works of 1,300 artists and 200 galleries from over 30 countries.

Art Dubai

The Art Dubai Fair that is managed by The Art Dubai Group has attracted over 28,500 visitors in 2019. The fair was established in 2006 and now it is the leading contemporary art fair in this region. During the last years, Dubai has become an important place for art collectors, art professionals, and artists. The rich cultural heritage of the region is presented in four sections of the gallery: Contemporary, Modern, Bawwaba, and Residents.
